A year ago, the tragic crime of Uma Aguilera occurred, a 9-year-old girl and daughter of a bodyguard to Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich. The incident took place during a robbery attempt in Lomas de Zamora. On January 22, 2024, the family was on their way to a medical appointment when they were approached by criminals. In response to the situation, Uma's father, who was also Bullrich's bodyguard and a member of the Federal Police, accelerated the vehicle, and the robbers fired shots. As a result, the minor was shot in the head and, despite medical efforts, unfortunately passed away at Churruca Hospital hours later.
Following the incident, an investigation identified the criminals as occupants of a black Toyota Corolla, which they had stolen minutes before. A year after these tragic events, four individuals have been arrested and charged: Axel Emiliano “Pelusa” Rojas (20 years old), Miguel Pastor “Patoto” Romero Molinas (20 years old), Guillermo “Paraguayo” Romero Molinas (17 years old), and Ariel Acuña Vega (21 years old). All face charges of aggravated robbery with the use of a firearm, as well as homicide criminis causa.
Although a trial for this crime is anticipated, no date has yet been set for the start of the proceedings. This case shocked public opinion last year, generating multiple demands from society and the political class. Minister Bullrich and Vice President Victoria Villarruel were present at Uma Aguilera's wake. During the funeral ceremony, there were moments of deep pain and sadness, with the words of the girl's mother, also a police officer, being particularly heart-wrenching as she cried out between sobs: "I want to stay with her... My daughter! No!".
